Today has been a bad day for two of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers of the 2014/15 season. Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris who has been in exceptional form this season and Southampton’s Fraser Forster who is fighting to displace Joe Hart from the England team were both taken off injured in an action packed day of Premier League action.
Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris was stretchered off in their game against Leicester City after clashing with Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and team mate Kyle Walker in the opening 90 seconds. Loris quick as ever off his line raced out to deal with a through ball only to collide with Vardy and Walker.
After a few minutes of treatment Lloris – who has played every minute of Spurs Premier League campaign this season, was eventually stretchered off and replaced with Michael Vorm who went on to concede 3 times in a great game of football that Spurs edged 4-3 in the end.
Meanwhile over in Southampton, Fraser Forster who has just recently been named as one of only two goalkeepers in the England squad for their upcoming fixtures was also stretchered off.
Forster appeared to lose his balance and it looked like his left knee gave way whilst clearing a ball upfield. The Southampton #1 immediately signaled to the bench that he was unable to continue and was carried off the pitch via stretcher to a standing ovation.
Early noise coming out of the Southampton camp is that it doesn’t look promising which will certainly worry Roy Hodgson who is already without usual backup goalkeeper Ben Foster due to his own knee problems.
