Adam Federici signs for newly promoted Bournemouth
It’s all go at Bournemouth this week as they have secured their second goalkeeper in as many days with the signing of Adam Federici from Reading.
Having confirmed the permanent signing of on loan keeper Artur Boruc yesterday, they have today snapped up the Australian shot stopper Federici on a three year deal after his contract with Reading expired.
Federici who had been with Reading for over 10 years and had been their first choice goalkeeper made an extremely costly error in their FA Cup semi final match against Arsenal, letting an Alexis Sanchez shot squirm away from him and creep over the line as the game was heading for penalties.
Federici looks excited about the move to Bournemouth who are still celebrating their promotion to the Premier League.
“I’m looking forward to joining something special down here. It’s a team I admired last season, watching how they play their football.”
Although he is clearly sad to leave behind a club where he has many friends.
“It was difficult to leave Reading because I had been there an extremely long time,” Federici told Bournemouth’s website. “I had a lot of success there and the fans were great for me but I thought it was time I moved on.
Now the only question is who will be Bournemouth’s first choice on the opening day of the season? Boruc or Federici?
Let us know who you think should be the starting keeper!
