Chelsea Ladies Keeper believes they have what it takes to beat Manchester City

Following a great start to their FAWSL campaign, Chelsea Ladies were flying high at the top of the FAWSL 1 table when they travelled to Sunderland.

90 minutes later they limped away with hurt pride after being completely blown away 4-0 by the North East side thanks to a wonderful second half hat trick from Beth Mead.

With a big clash against Manchester City on the horizon it was important they refocused and prepared for their next test!

Thankfully for Chelsea they had a FAWSL Continental Cup game against Reading to play before the test of City, one which they would win 3-2 and a result which Chelsea goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl believes is key to their preparation.

The Reading game was very important to show ourselves that we had the ability to bounce back and get back in control of our own performance.

So with their Continental Cup game out of the way preparations soon turned to the arrival of Manchester City at the Staines Town ground. Preparations that seem to have had some tweaking since that disastrous trip to Sunderland.

We have prepared similar to how we usually do but we have taken the chance to improve on the small details as we evaluated how we prepared prior to Sunderland.

The Reading victory will have helped heal mental scars after Sunderland and it seems like Chelsea have learned from their preparation mistakes, so are they confident ahead of the game against Manchester City? Hedvig certainly seems to be in a positive state of mind going in to tonight’s match.

I see the result going our way. I believe you have to be able to believe it to achieve it, so that is the only way for me.

You can catch the game tonight (Sunday 26th July) at 6:30pm (BST) on BT Sport.
